Dena B. Calo, Counsel in the firm’s Newark, New Jersey and Camden, New Jersey offices, is director of the firm’s Human Resource Practices Group.

In that function, Ms. Calo provides employment law counseling, including preparing and reviewing employee handbooks, establishing and auditing human resources policies and procedures and conducting on-site investigations. 

Ms. Calo also trains organizations on best human resource practices. The firm offers a variety of training options and Ms. Calo will work with organizations to develop a training program that best suits their business. She is an adjunct professor at Holy Family University, teaching employment law and labor relations at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Ms. Calo has also litigated cases to state and federal juries throughout the United States involving Title VII, ERISA, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act, state and federal constitutional issues, defamation, restrictive covenants and contract disputes.

Ms. Calo has authored the following articles published in The HR Specialist: “ADA Amendments Act Means Changes for Employees, Employers”, “Pending ‘No-Match’ Rules Put Employers in Difficult Positions” and “7 Elements of a Social Media Policy that Limits your Liability”.  Her article titled “Harassment Liability—How Employers Can Protect Themselves” was published in the Philadelphia Enterpriser.  Ms. Calo also wrote “Social Media: Legal Risks and Practical Remedies”, which was published in the New Jersey Apartment Association’s AIM MagazineShe belongs to the New Jersey Bar Association.
 
Ms. Calo is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, the New Jersey Apartment Association and a member of eWomen Network.
