    GBV Welcomes William F. Harrison, Esq. as Of Counsel to the firm

    William F. Harrison, Esq. has joined the firm’s Livingston, New Jersey office as Of Counsel. Before joining the firm, Mr. Harrison was Chief Counsel to the Office of Smart Growth in the Department of Community Affairs, State of New Jersey.  He formerly served for over 20 years as Assistant Director at the New Jersey Pinelands Commission.  Mr. Harrison has been a member of the Montclair Board of Adjustment since 1984, serving as its Chairperson since 1987.

    GBV Welcomes New Associate Jonathan S. Goodgold, Esq.

    Jonathan S. Goodgold, Esq. joins the firm as an Associate. Mr. Goodgold, a graduate from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and former Associate of Schiffman, Abraham, Kaufman & Ritter, P.C., will be based in the firm’s Livingston location practicing Employment and Commercial Litigation.

    GBV presents a Corporate Political Activity Conference

    On September 30, 2005, Genova, Burns & Vernoia presented a conference entitled ‘Corporate Political Activity Law 2005’.  The event was moderated by James M. Burns, Esq. with Laurence D. Laufer, Esq., Gregory E. Nagy, Esq., Rebecca M. Freed, Esq., and Jisha S. Vachachira, Esq. serving as presenters.  The conference featured discussions on emerging ethical and legal issues in the procurement process; an update on pay-to-play reform; a primer on S-2; an update on lobbying registration rules; and a primer on establishment and operation of PACs.

    GBV Welcomes New Associates

    Nicholas J. Repici, Esq. and Michael J. Grohs, Esq. have joined the firm’s Livingston, New Jersey office as Associates.

    Before joining the firm to concentrate his practice in the areas of Labor and Employment Law and Litigation, Mr. Repici, a graduate from Seton Hall Law School class of 2004, was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Diane Pincus in Middlesex County.

    Mr. Grohs also concentrates his practice in the areas of Labor and Employment Law and Litigation. Mr. Grohs graduated from Rutgers Law School, Camden class of 2004 before serving as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Robert J. Passero, Assignment Judge in Passaic County.

    GBV Opens New Camden, NJ Office

    Genova, Burns & Vernoia to Open a Camden Office. Banking on the emerging revitalization of Camden, Genova Burns & Vernoia has chosen downtown Camden for its South Jersey office location, bringing a significant law firm back into the Camden County seat for the first time in many years and perhaps even decades. The firm established its Camden office, GBV’s fifth location, at the end of 2005, selecting space at One Port Center, the office building owned and operated by the Delaware River Port Authority on the Camden waterfront directly opposite the New Jersey State Aquarium.

    Peter J. Cammarano III, Esq. appointed to Hoboken Planning Board

    In July 2005 Peter J. Cammarano III, Esq. was appointed to the Hoboken Planning Board, which regulates and oversees real estate development in the City of Hoboken. Mr. Cammarano has been with the firm since September of 2004 and currently serves as Councilman at Large for the City of Hoboken.
