Genova, Burns & Vernoia today announced that Lisa A. John, Esq. has joined the firm as an Associate.
Ms. John concentrates her practice in the area of Land Use. Before joining the firm, John, a graduate from Seton Hall Law School Class of 2003 who also served as a law clerk to the Hon. B. Theodore Bozonelis, A.J.S.C., worked as an Associate at the firm of Stickel, Koenig & Sullivan. Ms. John is admitted to the bar of the State of New Jersey.

Genova, Burns & Vernoia is pleased to announce that Norman J. Peer, recently retired as Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, has joined the firm as Of Counsel. Having served 9 years on the bench, today Norm Peer resumes his thirty-plus year career as a commercial transactions, securities law and corporate governance specialist in the States of New York and New Jersey. He will also commence a dispute resolution practice at the firm. Mr. Peer will be based in the firm’s Red Bank office.

Tuesday, September 05, 2006 GBV Welcomes New Associates
Genova, Burns & Vernoia today announced that Lauren M. Kostinas, Geri L. Albin & Asher K. Ailey have joined the firm’s Livingston, New Jersey office as Associates.
Ms. Kostinas, a recent graduate of Seton Hall Law School, began her clerkship with the firm in May of 2005. Ms. Albin who graduated from Rutgers Law School-Newark, class of 2006, also began her clerkship in May of 2005. Mr. Ailey, also a 2006 graduate of Rutgers Law School-Newark, began clerking with Genova, Burns & Vernoia in September of 2004. All three Associates completed their clerkship with the firm in May of 2006 and sat for their bar exams in July of 2006.
Friday, August 25, 2006 Gregory E. Nagy, Esq. will serve as a panelist for a Seminar on Lobbying for Lawyers
On September 12, 2006, Gregory E. Nagy, Esq. will be a panelist for a program entitled “Lobbying for Lawyers: Update 2006.” Nagy and other experts will explore the effects of the new Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) rules as they affect lobbyists and governmental affairs agents.

In his presentation at the conference, which will be held at the Practising Law Center in New York City, Mr. Genova will speak on dealing with emotional distress and punitive damages.

Participants for a New Jersey Business and Industry (NJBIA) seminar, entitled "Navigating New Jersey's Pay-to-Play Laws," included Gregory E. Nagy, Esq. and Jisha S. Vachachira, Esq. Laurence D. Laufer, Esq. was a moderator.
The Seminar focused on the restriction Pay-to-Play laws have on the relationship between government officials and their hired contractors. The group dealt directly with an overview of Pay-to-Play laws at the conference that took place in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
Monday, June 19, 2006 GBV participate's in 20th Annual "Battle of the Barristers"
On June 19, 2006, Genova, Burns & Vernoia participated in the 20th Annual "Battle of the Barristers" softball tournament, which raised $112,000 for the 2006 Greater Newark Fresh Air Fund. GBV not only contributed $5,550 toward the Fund, but also won the tournament for the second straight time. As the tournament champion, GBV looks forward to the responsibility of organizing the tournament in 2007.
